Case study

St Mary’s University

St Mary’s University has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence.

Established in 1850 as a Catholic teacher training college, St Mary’s is renowned for its academic excellence. Being granted a University title was a real milestone in its history.

With an original intake of just six students, St Mary’s has now grown to around 5,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students across their four academic schools.

The challenge

The University embarked on substantial refurbishments and part of that process involved installing and maintaining their fire and security systems throughout their campuses.

After a tendering process, ACL proudly won the vast majority of the work with new innovative ideas and cost-effective solutions.

Our Approach

Having won the fire and security maintenance contract; we now maintain the University’s fire alarms, intruder alarms including panic alarms, CCTV and access control.

The Result

Terry Docherty, the University’s Health & Safety Officer, has enjoyed the confidence our teams provide and our dedication to the project.

ACL deliver their services on time and all works are carried out in a professional manner, maintaining very good H&S standards when on site, which is very important as often they will be working in and around buildings populated with public, staff, and students.

They are always clear in the specification on what they will be doing, and we do not end up with add-ons, as has been the case with other companies in the past. I have worked closely with them during the past five years and can rely on a good service. This is demonstrated with the maintenance contract where they are on site within an hour of a fault being logged. I couldn’t really make any negative comments about acl as I have always found them to produce good results, good quality work and very helpful.
