Case study

The Wing

The Wing, Oxford Circus, was designed as a female-only members club, a space set over a 5-story townhouse where members could attend to work, meet, and network.

The coveted club followed was designed following the success of similar prestigious co-working spaces in the US.

The challenge

ACL were commissioned by Pareto FM to complete the significant, and imperative, intruder alarm installation at The Wing.

After carrying out comprehensive research, we concluded that Texecom Ricochet would be the most suitable system to install at The Wing. In order to maintain the space’s high quality aesthetic  ACL ensured that the installation was almost entirely wireless throughout.

Our Approach

The majority of the install was completed over the space of two days, with daily works starting early to ensure member disruption was kept to an absolute minimum.

An expander was placed on each of the five floors as well as the basement. The safety of our clients is at the heart of what we do, therefore it was very important to commission a secure and responsive system. This strategy resulted in a very strong signal strength, meaning if any of the devices are triggered, the system will react immediately, contacting the required personnel.

Whilst providing a responsive system is always of utmost importance to us, we are also aware that all customers have individual aspirations and requirements. For this particular project our devices were kept as discrete as possible in order to remain in-keeping with The Wing’s design. Whilst our team were on site, we observed that almost all of the doors and windows had a dark grey surround and recognized it would be beneficial to have a matching contact. To achieve this, we fitted Texecom’s smaller door contacts in a dark grey colour, the contacts become practically invisible against the doors.

The Result

The Wing and their movement in empowering women, lead us to consider women in the engineering industry. We currently have just one, fantastic fully-fledged female engineer, we would love to welcome more like-minded women into our team in the near future.
